      Staff surveys and focus groups

I carry out staff surveys using both qualitative and quantitative methods on a range of issues including stress, culture, and leadership. These are particularly useful in times of change, not just to take a snapshot, but to monitor trends.

Each survey is individually designed but typically would consist of three stages:

  • Structured interviews with senior management and key stakeholders
  • Focus groups with representative groups of staff
  • Questionnaire survey of all or representative sample of staff

I also run one-off focus groups on specific issues. For example with local authority staff to inform policy development in connection with a new Recruitment and Selection policy, to obtain the views of psychologists working in Europe, and planning  for an international conference in Turkey (see below).
